The drama Hustlers, starring Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu will not be screened in Malaysia after it failed to get sanctioned by the censorship board.
It’s a pity too, because the film has been garnering good reviews since it was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). There’s even Oscar buzz surrounding Jennifer Lopez’s performance in the film.
Unfortunately for Malaysian cinemagoers, they won’t get the chance to see this one on the big screen as it failed to get past the boys at the censorship department.
Directed by Lorene Scafaria, Hustlers follows a crew of savvy former strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients. The film was inspired by an article published by New York Magazine entitled “The Hustlers at Scores” written by Jessica Pressler.
Joining Lopez and Wu in this sexy drama are Cardi B, Madeline Brewer, Lili Reinhart, Julia Stiles and Keke Palmer. As you resort to your own unique ways to see this film, we can suggest checking out the trailer here to see if this is the sort of story you’d be willing to spend your bandwidth on.
