The Flash is currently in development hell with no director attached to the DC Superhero flick as yet. With both Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa dropping out of the project, the search for someone to helm the standalone superhero flick continues.
Nevertheless, there have been names linked to The Flash, with Mark Webb and Robert Zemeckis the latest names potentially being scouted by Warner Bros. Webb is familiar with the Spider-Man franchise, having directed Andrew Garfield in two films at Sony. Zemeckis on the other hand is a veteran director who needs little introduction, especially with Back to the Future trilogy on his list of credentials.
Previously it was said that both Kingsman: The Secret Service director, Matthew Vaughn and Sam Raimi who directed the Spider-Man trilogy were on the shortlist as well. But no word as yet if either man has been asked or are in anyway interested in the gig.
Another issue that could plague the production of The Flash is star, Ezra Miller’s schedule. The actor has already appeared as The Flash/Barry Allen in a small scene in Suicide Squad and is due to reprise his role in Justice League as well. However, Miller is due to begin work on the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them this year, which would mean that Miller would only be freed up to shoot The Flash sometime in 2018.
