There’s a new Batman film that is in the pipeline and following the success of recent DC films, this one is undoubtedly highly-anticipated. Fresh off the successes of Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Joker, the latest film in the Dark Knight series will be packed with new faces and characters. Here’s what we know so far about The Batman.
Who’s
Directing
The answer to that is Matt Reeves, who is best known for his work on the Planet of the Apes series. Reeves was
picked for the job following the departure of Ben Affleck from both the
starring and director role following the lacklustre success of Justice League. To see his vision
through the director has recruited some interesting choices for the lead
characters in the film.
Who’s
In It
The cape and cowl of the Dark Knight will be donned
by Robert Pattinson, which is an interesting choice to say the least. The
British actor, known for his work in the Twilight
series will be joined by Andy Serkis, who will be portraying the Wayne
family butler Alfred Pennyworth with Jeffrey Wright playing Commissioner James
Gordon. The heroes of the film however may have their work cut out for them
with the baddies picked out for The
Batman.
The Rogues Gallery
Reeves has stacked up an impressive list of villains to tangle with his Batman. Currently the rogues gallery has Paul Dano who is taking on the mantle of The Riddler and Zoe Kravitz who is portraying Catwoman. John Turturro also recently joined the cast as crime boss Carmine Falcone with Colin Farrell heavily rumoured to take on the mantle of the Penguin.
What’s It About
No official details have been revealed at this point but some rumours claim that the film could be based within Arkham Asylum. There’s also a plot leak claiming that the Batman is investigating a series of murders, which makes every villain a suspect.
When
Is It Out
The Batman is scheduled for a release
in end June 2021 with no direct competition listed down so far. Production of
the film is set to begin in early 2020.
