Despite suffering a production delay, HBO’s Westworld is off to a great start by drawing in over 3.3 million viewers during its premiere. The ratings bode well for HBO and it’s the highest amount of viewers the channel has garnered since True Detective Season 1 made its debut in 2014.
Although it maintains to be seen if Westworld can indeed continue its dominance, the series itself has already solidified its presence amongst viewers. The series, which is based on the Michael Crichton novel and 70s film has planted the seeds of intrigued with its futuristic setting based in a western world.

HBO will undoubtedly be boosted by this strong result, which begs the question on when and not if the channel will green light a season 2. HBO is also looking to ride the interest with its new series by releasing a new trailer that reveals what Westworld is due to deliver in the coming weeks.
