With the current interest behind superhero films, Sony is keen to expand on its interests in the genre and one of them could be the long awaited Venom movie. The studio was apparently fine tuning a possible Spider-Man spinoff that would have seen the Sinister Six on film. That plans were scuppered when Sony decided to reboot the Spider-Man franchise with the help of Marvel. Now, it seems that they also want to film a Venom movie, but with a twist – it won’t be related to the Spider-Man franchise nor connected to the Marvel universe. Well good luck explaining that costume then.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 is a go
Good news for Marvel fans because ABC has issued a season 4 renewal for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The news of the fourth season comes hot on the heels a few days before the mid-season premiere of the new season. And with the arrival of a new villain in the Hive and arch nemesis, Gideon Malick (Powers Boothe) still causing havoc, it certainly bodes well for fans especially now that there’s a season 4 to continue the storyline. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is also spinning off a new series, titled Marvel’s Most Wanted, which will star Adrienne Palicki.
Bad Boys 3 in summer 2017
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will reunite on screen in their buddy cop action franchise, Bad Boys. The third instalment is now being confirmed for a release in summer 2017 and will be directed by Joe Carnahan, who previously directed Smokin’ Aces. Interestingly enough, Bad Boys 3 will be over 20 years since the first film hit cinemas in 1995. The last outing Smith and Lawrence had in Bad Boys two took place in 2003. Both films were directed by Michael Bay.
First Look: The Punisher Costume
The countdown is on for the second season of Netflix and Marvel’s Daredevil series. And with the arrival of new characters such as Elektra and the Punisher, the interest behind the series is at a fever pitch. Jon Bernthal who starred in The Walking Dead will be taking on the mantle of Frank Castle in the series and the most recent poster sees the actor donning what appears to be the Punisher’s signature costume. The second season of Daredevil airs on Netflix on 18th March.
First Look: Preacher
AMC is inching towards the premier of Preacher, the dramatic live action adaptation of Garth Ennis’ beloved comic book series. Produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the series stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, a small town Texas preacher who has the power to command people. Other characters who will appear in the show are Cassisdy, an Irish vampire and Arseface, which is a key character in the comic book series. The two-hour Preacher pilot is directed by both Rogen and Goldberg.
