The Disney streaming service will see a new Star Wars TV series being produced at the hands of director Jon Favreau. After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. The Mandalorian will debut on the Disney streaming service in 2019.
Lionsgate Hellboy
The first poster for the Hellboy reboot has been released and we have to admit, its looks pretty darn good. The film directed by Neil Marshall sees Stranger Things’ David Harbour taking on the mantle from original star, Ron Perlman. Joining Harbour are Ian McShane as Professor Bruttenholm, Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimio, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, and Milla Jovovich as the Blood Queen. The film arrives in cinemas in April 2019.
Netflix To Stream Titans
The DC Universe streaming service will officially kick-off with the Titans series, which is based off the Teen Titans comics, this month. However viewers outside the U.S. will have a chance to check out the new DC series thanks to Netflix. The streaming service will apparently air Titans in selected international markets according to a recent report by Variety. Netflix has done similar deals in the past, most notably with CBS All Access for Star Trek: Discovery. Titans is due to premiere in the U.S. on 12 October.
Ansel Elgort Joins West Side Story
Steven Spielberg’s upcoming remake of West Side Story has just signed on Baby Driver star, Ansel Elgort. The actor will portray Tony in the Stephen Sondheim remake. West Side Story is a pet project of sorts for Spielberg, but it has been a long-gestating one especially since he has several productions already lined-up on his plate including Indiana Jones 5. West Side Story began in 1957 as a Broadway production, and has since been adapted into a film in 1961.
Christian Bale As Dick Cheney
Adam McKay’s upcoming biopic on former U.S Vice-President, Dick Cheney will arrive in cinemas later this year. The film, titled, Vice will see Christian Bale portraying Cheney and it looks like the actor is in his element as the former VP. The make-up effects are indeed incredible and we can’t wait to see the other characters in the film namely Amy Adams (Lynne Cheney), Steve Carell (Donald Rumsfeld), Tyler Perry (Colin Powell) and Sam Rockwell (George W. Bush), will look like.
Twilight Zone Begins Production
The classic anthology series, the Twilight Zone will be revived at CBS All-Access, with Jordan Peele hosting. The new series is set to air sometime in 2019 on the U.S. streaming service. Production of the revival series began on 1 October with the first episode arriving from Gerard McMurray (The First Purge) who will direct the mystery premiere. Twilight Zone should be an interesting watch, considering the impressive run of the series when it first debuted in 1959. The series was also successfully adapted into a motion picture in 1983.
