Cameras are about to roll on the King Kong reboot. Kong: Skull Island will see cinemas’ greatest ape return with a big screen adventure. Based in the 70s, the film stars Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hiddleston and will revolve around a group of explorers who uncover a mysterious island that houses a number of giant monsters. The film also stars Brie Larson and John Goodman. Kong: Skull Island is due in early 2017 and will likely plant seeds for Godzilla vs Kong, which is set to be ready by 2020.
Cameras Roll On War of the Planet of the Apes
Production has begun on the third instalment of the Planet of the Apes. Director Matt Reeves took to Twitter to make the announcement with an exclusive set photo. According to reports, Planet of the Apes takes place immediately following the events of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes with Caesar leading the primates in a battle against the humans. Andy Serkis is returning to portray Caesar with Woody Harrelson as the human antagonist.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back
Tom Cruise’s follow-up to Jack Reacher is now officially titled Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. The second instalment will not have the talents of director Christopher McQuarrie though as Ed Zwick will be helming the film. Details are sketchy at this point as to what the film will cover but it is based on Lee Child’s 18th Reacher novel. The sequel also stars Cobie Smulders, Aldis Hodge, Patrick Heusinger and Danika Yorash.
Chris Rock To Host The Oscars
It looks like the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have found their man to front the Oscars next year. Comedian Chris Rock has been named as the host of the 88th Academy Awards, which will be held in February 2016. This marks the second time Rock will be master of ceremonies for the world’s biggest film awards night. He previously hosted the Oscars in 2005, which was the second highest rated show of the last decade, so we guess the Academy has made a wise choice.
Kingsman 2 Gets Release Date
