From movie-inspired TV series to reboots and the passing of a film great, this is the week that was in Hollywood…
R.I.P ATTENBOROUGH
We said goodbye to another film legend, the great Sir Richard Attenborough. Although most fans remember him for portraying John Hammond in Jurassic Park, the actor was also an accomplished director who bagged an Oscar in the 80s for the film Gandhi.
FROM MOVIES TO TV
The creative well seems to be running a tad dry now that TV execs are looking to adapt popular films into television series. The Omen, Shutter Island and Minority Report are just some of the films that have earmarked to be developed into new properties on the small screen.
LIGHT THE FUSE…
Good news for Mission: Impossible fans because cameras are now rolling for the fifth instalment of the series. Production is currently ongoing in Vienna with series star Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg.
UNDERWORLD GETS A REBOOT
We can’t get Kate Beckinsale in that black leather outfit out of our minds, which is why we’re bummed that the Underworld series is going back to the drawing board. The Underworld reboot is currently in development and could centre on Eve, the vampire/werewolf daughter of Selene and Michael.
MAN OF STEEL GETS ICED
And last but not least, we’ll leave you this week of Superman himself stepping up for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Props to Henry Cavill for taking bucket loads of chilly iced water for charity and for giving us a better look at his new Man of Steel threads.
