Fans of Hannibal will be disappointed to know that NBC has chosen not to renew the drama series for a fourth season. The news comes as a bit of a shock as Hannibal has generated decent ratings for the network. But all hope is not quite lost for the show and fans as the producer of the series, Gaumont has the option to shop the series to another network immediately following Hannibal S3. Showrunner Bryan Fuller claims he has a seven season plan for the series, which should help its chances of it being continued on another network.
Jurassic World Breaks More Records
Fresh off capturing the biggest opening weekend box office record, Jurassic World has now claimed the fastest USD1 billion haul ever for a film. How long did it take you ask? Well, the film managed that feat in just 13 days, shattering the previous record of 17 days held by Furious 7. Jurassic World also claimed the highest second weekend in history with USD106.6 million. With so many records claimed so far, many are wondering if the dinosaur sequel has what it takes to take on reigning box-office champ, Avatar, which has garnered over USD2.7 billion.
Julia Stiles Returns To Bourne Franchise
It’s no secret that Matt Damon is set to reprise his role as Jason Bourne but now it’s also been reported that Julia Stiles will return as well. Stiles portrayed covert agent, Nicky Parsons who helped Bourne piece back his missing life after being stricken with amnesia. Also returning to helm the film is director Paul Greenglass who is reportedly looking at Lord of the Rings star, Viggo Mortensen to portray the lead baddie in the new Bourne film. The yet-unnamed film is scheduled for a release in 2016 and will likely not tie-in with Bourne Legacy, which starred Jeremy Renner.
The Rock Goes On a ‘Rampage’
We’re losing track of all the projects Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is going to do. The action star already has a full plate of films on the horizon including Shazam!, Big Trouble In Little China, Fast & Furious 8 and he’s also got a HBO series, Ballers currently on air as well. But never one to rest on his laurels, Johnson will now also star in the video game adaptation of Rampage. According to reports, the film will be based on the game which will see a trio of monsters namely a gorilla, a lizard and a wolf who wreak havoc across America with Johnson the man to stop them.
R.I.P. James Horner
Hollywood lost another bright talent this week when James Horner tragically died in a plane crash early in the week. The Academy Award winning composer who is best known for penning the score for Titanic, Aliens, Avatar, Field of Dreams, Apollo 13, and Braveheart was 61 years old. Horner has frequently collaborated with director James Cameron and he also has an extensive list of scores that go back as far as 30 years with themes for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Glory, Searching for Bobby Fischer, and Courage Under Fire.
