Fresh off signing Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, Netflix and Marvel have also secured the talents of French actress Elodie Yung to portray Elektra in season two of Daredevil. In the official release, Marvel describes Elektra as “a mysterious woman from Matt Murdock’s past whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle.” Yung has decent credentials to fit the role as she demonstrated in G.I. Joe: Retaliation some years ago portraying the katana sword yielding assassin named Jinx in the sequel.
Bryan Singer For X-Men/Fantastic Four Crossover?
Josh Trank’s reboot of the Fantastic Four isn’t out yet but 20th Century Fox is already itching to do a sequel and even a possible crossover with its other comic book property – the X-Men. And they’re looking at Bryan Singer for the coveted director’s seat. According to the reports, 20th Century Fox is looking to Singer to direct Fantastic Four 2, which will lead into an X-Men crossover film, tying in both properties for the big screen in time for a targeted release date in 2018. Fantastic Four 2 has been given a 2017 release.
Prince Charming Live-Action Movie
Disney is once again turning the wheels on its live-action properties and this time they’re focusing their attention on a solo-film revolving around Prince Charming. It would seem that the live-action properties have emerged as Disney’s third bread winner behind Marvel superhero movies and the new Star Wars films, which is why they’re churning out no less than five other live-action films revolving around Beauty and the Beast, a sequel to Alice in Wonderland, Jungle Book, Dumbo and Tinkerbell which are currently in production.
The New Ecto-1
Ghostbusters director, Paul Feig has taken to Twitter to reveal the new Ecto-1 to the world and it’s causing a mixed run of emotions from fans. The new vehicle from the Ghostbusters reboot remains a Cadillac but an updated one from the 80s as opposed to the 59’ original. At first glances, the new set of wheels can’t hold a candle to the original Ecto-1 and we’re not the only ones who think so. The new Ecto-1 is a modified hearse with a ‘Slimer’ hood ornament, which is a nod to the original film. But other than that, we don’t see this car becoming a film icon anytime soon.
Sherlock Christmas Special
Both Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are reuniting for a highly-anticipated Sherlock Christmas Special, which is set to air on BBC later this year. The first photo release of the special was released ahead of Comic-Con and it shows both actors decked out in rather retro looking threads. Not much is known about the upcoming special and BBC has yet to reveal any clues at this point of time but it’s widely speculated that the special will not connect to Sherlock season 4, which is targeted to debut in 2016.
