Star Trek Beyond has just warped into cinemas but the top brass at Paramount Pictures are confident that the third instalment to the franchise will do well enough to warrant another film. Star Trek 4 has been officially by Paramount and they are bringing back Chris Hemsworth to co-star in the film. Fans will remember that Hemsworth briefly played George Kirk in 2009’s Star Trek. The official log line reads…the next instalment of the epic space adventure, Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk will cross paths with a man he never had a chance to meet, but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born: his father.
Meet The Power Rangers
Thanks to a new costume image released by USA Today, fans now have a closer look at the new Power Rangers. The photo sees (from left) Kimberly the Pink Ranger (Naomi Scott), Billy the Blue Ranger (RJ Cyler), Jason the Red Ranger (Dacre Montgomery), Zack the Black Ranger (Ludi Lin) and Trini the Yellow Ranger (Becky G). The new costumes are certainly more colourful and intricate compared to Power Rangers of before. According to the buzz, the new film is set to be grittier than past series, which could bode well for the franchise.
Divergent Series To Conclude With TV Movie
Fans of the Divergent series will have to savour the final instalment to the franchise on the small screen. According to a report on Variety, Divergent Series: Ascendant will likely skip its theatrical release and wind up as a TV movie with potentially a new cast. This is due to the last film in the series, Allegiant underperforming at the box-office. The good news though is that the Divergent series could potentially spin-off into a TV series as well following the small screen movie treatment.
Meet LEGO Robin and Joker
Warner Bros has released new images from the LEGO Batman Movie and this time they’re introducing two iconic characters from the Batman universe. Both Robin and the Joker will have significant roles to play in the new animated film by Chris McKay. Batman’s sidekick will be voiced by Michael Cera whilst the Clown prince of crime will be brought to life by Zach Galifianakis. The LEGO Batman Movie is due out summer 2017.
Shrek 5 Being Planned
With this year’s summer season dominated by animated films such as The Secret Life of Pets and Finding Dory, it’s not surprising to see more full-length cartoons being planned for the big screen. According to recent reports, Dreamworks is gearing up to return to the kingdom of far far away for the next instalment of its most popular franchise. Shrek 5 is expected to be greenlit soon along with an animated film helmed by Edgar Wright called Shadows. Both films are expected to open in cinemas sometime in 2019.
