After the sensational departure of Danny Boyle from Bond 25, Cary Fukunaga has unexpectedly stepped into the director’s chair. Known for his stellar work in Beasts of No Nation and especially for True Detective Season 1 for HBO, Fukunaga is a surprise, yet fitting, director for the next instalment to the Bond franchise. Production for Bond 25 will begin next March with a revised release date penned in for mid-February 2020. Fukunaga recently directed the Netflix limited series, Maniac.

    Infinity War Ends Box-Office Run
infinity_war_starkThere was no doubt that Infinity War was going to deliver roaring business for Disney and Marvel. And now following the film’s final theatrical run, we now know just how much the Avengers sequel has delivered in terms of box-office receipts. According to Box Office Mojo, the MCU ensemble film roped in USD678 million in the US with an international cumulative total of USD2.7 billion. Infinity War now sits on the fourth spot on the all-time list box-office list in both markets, sitting right behind Black Panther in the US and The Force Awakens.

    Patrick Stewart Is Bosley
PicardElizabeth Banks’ Charlie’s Angels reboot has cast Patrick Stewart in the role of Bosley. The new film, which is currently in development, will be an updated take on the beloved Charlie’s Angels franchise. Banks will serve as director on the film with Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska starring as the three female leads. The new Charlie’s Angels will be bigger in scale, shifting the operations from a detective agency to an international espionage setting. The film is slated to arrive in cinemas end September 2019.

    First Look: Todd Phillips’s Joker

No further details have been revealed regarding the production except that Phoenix will be portraying the clown prince of crime in the film. The standalone Joker film does have an impressive cast though with Zazie Beetz and Robert De Niro on board. The film is slated for an October 2019 release.

    Live-Action Last Airbender Series
airbenderAvatar: The Last Airbender will get another live-action treatment, which will stream exclusively on Netflix. Granted the M. Night Shymalan treatment went horribly wrong in 2010 but it has to be said the Nickelodeon version fared way better. Netflix will certainly bank on the latter for its new live-action series, which tells the tale of the Aang, the last surviving Airbender who needs to master the elements of Water, Fire and Earth to take on the evil Fire Lord, Ozai. The animated series is currently available on Netflix in case you need to catch up.

    Child’s Play Reboot First Look
chucky_newEveryone’s favourite horror doll is coming back to cinemas. We’ve reported that MGM and Orion Pictures are working on a reboot to Child’s Play and now we have a first look at the demon doll Chucky from the film. The new doll seems softer around the edges, but no less intimidating and scary to say the least. The new Child’s Play film is currently in production and stars Aubrey Plaza and Gabriel Bateman.
