CASTING CALL: X-MEN
Bryan Singer may be back on X-Men: Apocalypse but it doesn’t mean the rest of the cast of the franchise will follow suit. The latest development to come from the production hints at new actors portraying mainstay X-Men characters, Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm. Seeing that X-Men: Apocalypse will be set in the 80s, this should make sense, but we’re hoping that we’ll see cameos from James Marsden, Famke Jansen and Halle Berry in the film as well.
LIAM NEESON GETS TAKEN AGAIN…
Is it just us or is Liam Neeson really digging his action movie shtick? With Walk Among The Tombstones in cinema, the actor is already putting the finishing touches on his upcoming action sequel Taken 3. Neeson will be back as ex-CIA agent Bryan Mills, who this time has to go on the run from the authorities after being framed for a murder of someone close to him. Taken 3 is slated for a release early 2015.
THIS GIRL’S, SUPER
A week back we reported that DC was warming up to the idea of having a Supergirl series. And now DC All Access has confirmed that Kara Zor-El will be hitting the small screen with her own solo adventures. CBS has apparently committed to bringing the series to life, with an origins story centred on Kara Zor-El, a Kryptonian girl who’s been hiding her powers here on Earth before eventually embracing her superhuman abilities.
DAWN OF THE CHROME TROOPER
Star Wars: Episode VII once again hogged the limelight on the newswires, this time with the revelation that we might see an all-new Chrome Trooper in the film. This rumour came courtesy of a few leaked concept art pieces by Indie Revolver which show designs for the new character. Also leaked were concept art pieces that show a couple of lightsabre duels between two characters, one of which was flanked by the Millennium Falcon. Let’s hope the latter one makes it to JJ Abrams’ story board.
Y: THE LAST MAN PROJECT IS DEAD
Y: The Last Man is one of the most celebrated graphic novels around, which is why fans were salivating at the prospect of seeing the adaptation come to life on the big screen or even small screen. However, it looks as if Y: The Last Man fans have a bitter pill to swallow now that the rights to the characters have reverted back to its creator. After languishing in development limbo for so many years, it’s safe to assume that we’ll never see Y: The Last Man on screen, ever.
