Two beloved Japanese anime properties will be given the big screen live action Hollywood treatment soon. Both Robotech and Astro Boy live action adaptations are being developed by Warner Bros, and Australia’s Animal Logic Entertainment. Although Astro Boy was made into a full-length animated film a couple of years ago, Robotech is one property that hasn’t managed to get off the ground. However WB seems to have put the project back on track by securing a screenwriter to pen the screenplay.
FIRST LOOK: FROZEN FEVER
Disney has finally given fans a first look at the new Frozen Fever short that will be attached to the film Cinderella, which will be released this March. The short will reunite the team responsible for the phenomenon that is Frozen, including voice actorsIdina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad and Jonathan Groff. Also back will be Oscar-winning composers Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez who have reportedly penned a new song to accompany Frozen Fever.
ROSE BRYNE TO RETURN TO X-MEN
Although missing in Days of Future Past, X-Men star Rose Byrne is expected to be brought back to the franchise for X-Men: Apocalypse. Bryne who portrayed mutant expert Moira MacTaggert is set to return in the third-instalment to the franchise according to producer and screenwriter Simon Kinberg in a recent interview with EW. Kinberg also revealed that X-Men: Apocalypse will complete the story arc for the main characters of First Class, namely Professor X, Magneto, Mystique and Beast.
MEET SCARLET OVERKILL
As some of you may know, The Minions will have a new boss in their standalone movie and that is none other than Scarlet Overkill, which will be voiced by Sandra Bullock. The Minions Movie will explore the life of Gru’s mischievous henchmen in a prequel tale, which is why they will be serving Ms. Overkill in their big screen adventure. The first image of the new baddie surfaced recently courtesy of USA Today, which gave fans an idea what The Minions first boss will look like.
M.A.S.K. FRANCHISE TO START?
The latest rumour to come out from Hasbro’s G.I. Joe camp is that the third instalment of the film could act as a platform to launch another famous 80s franchise. Although nothing is set in stone as yet with the direction of G.I. Joe 3, with the exception of Dwayne Johnson’s reprisal of Roadblock, the film could be used to kick start the M.A.S.K. franchise as well, which will depict the group as independent contractors who will work alongside the Joes. Also rumoured are the lead villains for G.I. Joe 3, which will reportedly be evil twins, Tomax and Xamot, whom will be played by one actor.
