BECKINSALE BACK AS SELENE?
We told you some weeks ago that there was an Underworld TV series being planned. But now franchise director Len Wiseman reveals that there is another film being planned and it may star his wife, Kate Beckinsale. Wiseman made the announcement during a recent interview with IGN where he commented that the Underworld projects will expand the universe in many ways. According to the director, there could be two Underworld films being planned alongside a TV series as well. The projects may well involve Selene and another with Theo, one of the characters from Underworld: Awakening.
GILLIAN ANDERSON WANTS IN ON GHOSTBUSTERS
With the Ghostbusters reboot now likely to be an all-female reboot, X-Files star Gillian Anderson is tossing her name into the hat for a role in the film. “OH MY GOD, I just looked it up online. Paul Feig, cast me now! Start a Twitter petition! I’m free!!!!! I’m free I’m free and I’m funny, goddamnit!”, enthused Anderson during a recent Reddit AMA session. But Ghostbusters aside, Anderson hinted at some new developments to the franchise she’s most commonly known for – The X-Files. “Keep your ears to the ground,” said the star, which could hint that we may well see Mulder and Scully back on the big screen for a third time.
BAUTISTA AS BOND VILLAIN?
Dave Bautista’s scene stealing performance in Guardians of the Galaxy has begun to reap rewards. Now, it’s being said the WWE Superstar has been inked to join the Bond 24 production as a villain. Bautista could be playing Hinx, which is suggested to be a villainous henchman created in the same mould as Oddjob and Jaws from the franchise. Bond 24 is set to begin production in December and is slated for a release at the end of 2015.
DOCTOR STRANGE SHORTLIST
Well you can blame Joaquin Phoenix for this one. Ever since the actor dropped out of the Doctor Strange project, Hollywood has gone into overdrive linking top actors to the project. Now we hear that Ewan McGregor is being shortlisted as one of the main actors Marvel Studios is courting to star in the film but he isn’t the only one. The Doctor Strange shortlist thus far also includes Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto, Oscar Isaac, Jake Gyllenhaal and Ethan Hawke. Not a bad bunch of names for a non-mainstream Marvel character, not bad at all.
