DWAYNE JOHNSON GETS THE JANSON DIRECTIVE
The Rock continues to work his ass off in Hollywood by snagging yet another movie project. Now, in addition to playing Black Adam in the DC Comics adaptation of Shazam!, the action star will also star in the Robert Ludlum adaptation of The Janson Directive. Dwayne Johnson will star as an ex-Navy SEAL turned private consultant who uncovers a vast conspiracy, which makes him a target for assassination. It’s speculated that Universal Pictures is looking to turn the film into a franchise vehicle for Johnson in similar vein to The Bourne films with Matt Damon.
SHATNER SET FOR STAR TREK 3?
One minute he’s pissed off about not being in Star Trek, the next he’s dismissing his involvement in the third instalment of the rebooted franchise. But now though it seems that the original Captain Kirk may well feature in Star Trek 3 directed by Robert Orci. William Shatner himself revealed that he has been approached to be in the upcoming sequel and it was supposed to be a secret…well so much for that then.
AVENGERS 3 TWO-PART RUMOUR
There’s been rumblings that Marvel may take a page out of Harry Potter, Twilight and The Hunger Games by splitting its third Avengers movie into two parts. Although this rumour should be taken with a grain of salt for now, there’s no denying the financial appeal for the studios in doing this it was a lucrative decision for both Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Also, it should provide an overall better angle to allow the Avengers 3 story to come alive seeing that the third instalment will feature an epic battle with Thanos, which could also involve The Guardians of the Galaxy. Looks like we’ll have to wait to 2018 to find out.
RUSH HOUR HEADS TO THE SMALL SCREEN
Looks like there’s another small screen adaptation heading towards the telly and its none other than Rush Hour. Brett Ratner, the filmmaker behind the franchise is partnering up with Cougar Town co-creator Bill Lawrence for this one-hour action-comedy series. The series is expected to stick close to the 1998 original film, which starred Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan. Honestly, we can see this one work and we wouldn’t mind a couple of cameos from Tucker and Chan too.
With an all-star cast the likes of Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, Martin Short, Jena Malone, Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro, Inherent Vice is certainly intriguing. Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the trailer hits a home run depicting a tale that includes hustlers, LAPD detectives, surfers and rockers. The somewhat whimsical and dark comedic take has already got a lot of people earmarking this one as an awards contender too. And, just a quick aside, is it just us or does Phoenix resemble Wolverine in this one?
