JAMES EARL JONES RETURNS TO VOICING DARTH VADER
We thought it would be a cold day on Tatooine to see James Earl Jones to voice Darth Vader again, but that’s what the veteran actor did for Star Wars Rebels recently. Vader will be featured in a special scene, which will be added to the Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion when it airs in ABC in the U.S. According to Executive Producer, Dave Feloni, Jones’ Darth Vader cameo was added into a scene which gives audiences an insight to the Inquisitor, which is voiced by Jason Isaacs. Looks like we’ve got to download that episode just to see what it is all about.
TETRIS MOVIE HEADING OUR WAY
Video game adaptations don’t do well at the box-office, so we’re kind of sceptical of this latest one that Hollywood has planned. It’s Tetris. Yes, believe it or not, there’s a big screen adaptation of Tetris planned for a release in 2016 and it’s slated to be an ‘epic sci-fi adventure’. We’re not sure how the 80s puzzle game is going to come off on the silver screen or what will the plot of the film would even be like, but it will involve blocks of various shapes and sizes.
ID4 2 READY TO GO?
Actor Jeff Goldblum has shed some light on the long gestating sequel to Independence Day in a recent interview. Goldblum commented that both Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin have cooked up a plot for the sequel and that they’ve written in a part for the actor to reprise his role as David Levinson. “They’re still talking about it and there was a script handed in, so it’s brewing,” said the actor. But if Independence Day 2 does come to fruition, one actor who will likely not return is Will Smith, who passed on the project some time ago.
UNCLE BUCK GETS REBOOTED
Another week and another movie is being rebooted for the small screen. This time around it’s the John Candy comedy Uncle Buck, which will be given the retooled for TV treatment at the hands of ABC. The 1989 John Hughes comedy saw Candy star as a wayward middle aged man who has to take care of his younger brother’s three children. The rebooted comedy will follow the same storylines and is heavily-tipped to be a multi-camera comedy. No word yet who will star as Uncle Buck but we think Gabriel Iglesias could do a good job.
NEW ROBIN HOOD FRANCHISE
Word is out that Sony is itching to give an ensemble franchise treatment ala Avengers and Fast & Furious for Robin Hood soon. The rebooted Robin Hood film is expected to hit cinemas in 2016 and it will focus once again on the renowned archer and his team of Merry Men. But the franchise is expected to offer a new twist, this time with a series of movies that will be fast paced and more action adventure oriented. Wait, didn’t they do that already with Kevin Costner in Prince of Thieves?
