National Geographic wants you to Uncover Malaysia through the lens of your smartphone in an exciting online photo campaign, all in the spirit of the upcoming National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.
The online photo campaign comes in line with the channel’s second instalment of Uncover Malaysia – a campaign which includes a line-up of on-air documentaries and online vignettes curated to showcase the country’s vibrant heritage after 60 long years of post-colonial independence and the establishment of Malaysia as a nation.
Rahman Roslan is a photojournalist who plays a pivotal role in the four-part Portraits of Malaysia series. Focusing on one of the four themes – Culture, Flavours, History, and People – the vignettes follow Rahman’s adventures across the country as he unravels hidden stories from various pockets of the Malaysian community.
To participate in the campaign, users will have to follow these simple steps:
- Take a picture with their smartphone, according to any of the four themes: Culture, Flavours, History, and People.
- Follow @uncovermalaysia on Instagram; or ‘National Geographic Asia’ on Facebook.
- Upload the picture with a caption that tells us your Uncover Malaysia story in relation to any of the four themes.
- Use the #NatGeoUncoverMY hashtag and tag @uncovermalaysia on Instagram or National Geographic Asia on Facebook.
The person with the best photograph gets to win photography equipment worth RM12,000, while 30 selected entries will receive the exclusive opportunity to be included in a TV commercial airing on the Nat Geo Channel and be featured on the National Geographic Asia Facebook page as well as the Online Gallery on the official Uncover Malaysia microsite. On top of that, all 31 top participants will also receive a 1-year National Geographic magazine subscription.
