We’ve heard very little about the Skull Island, King Kong’s origins tale ever since the announcement was made by Legendary Pictures at Comic-Con. But now it seems the production has secured Tom Hiddleston to star in the production.
Hiddleston will join Skull Island in an unspecified role for the film, which will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts. The director previously directed 2013’s surprise hit, The Kings of Summer.
Skull Island will be set on a mysterious island, which will be home to a number of giant animals as well as dinosaurs, including the monster ape King Kong. The island setting was first brought to life by Peter Jackson in the King Kong remake in 2005.
The film is one of three monster films scheduled by Legendary Pictures, which now also includes the sequel to Pacific Rim and Godzilla. Skull Island is scheduled for a late 2016 release.
