With cameras about to roll on Thor: Love and Thunder in Australian, the production is being hyped as an ensemble Marvel Cinematic Universe film. Although it won’t be the spectacle like the Avengers franchise, the next Thor film could follow in the footsteps of Captain America: Civil War and feature several MCU characters.
The crossover treatment has worked wonders for Marvel Studios as seen in films such as the aforementioned Civil War as well as Spider-Man: Homecoming, which featured Iron Man/Tony Stark. Even the inclusion of the Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok was a breath of fresh fair for the franchise.
As far as Thor: Love and Thunder goes, the set pieces are already in place with the return of Chris Hemsworth as Thor along with Natalie Portman reprising her role as Jane Forster, who is also expected to be the new God of Thunder. Joining them are Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Christian Bale who will be the film’s big bad.
Now, it has been reported that Chris Pratt will also feature in the film, reprising his role as Star Lord/Peter Quill. With Star Lord featuring in the film, many fans are expecting the other members of the Guardians of the Galaxy to appear in the film as well.
Thor: Love and Thunder is being directed by Taika Waititi and is expected to arrive in cinemas in February 2022.
