British actor, Tom Hardy will portray legendary gangster Al Capone in the upcoming drama thriller, Fonzo. The film, which is directed by Josh Trank zeroes in on the gangster as he serves time in prison, which eventually turns him mad with dementia. Fonzo marks the first time Trank is directing a film since Fantastic Four, which derailed the director’s progress in Hollywood. The director was previously attached to a Star Wars spinoff but was removed due to the developments during the production of Fantastic Four. Fonzo also stars Linda Cardellini, Matt Dillon and Kyle MacLachlan.
Infinity War Posters
Disney and Marvel have released several new promo posters for Avengers: Infinity War. The promo materials have arrived just in time as we’re mere weeks away from the biggest superhero blowout ever to hit cinemas. Although the new posters divide the Avengers as well as heroes such as the Guardians of the Galaxy, there are two notable absentees. As the trailers suggest both Ant-Man and Hawkeye are noticeably missing, although they likely have a role to play. Ant-Man returns in summer with its sequel, so perhaps his role in Infinity War is downplayed somewhat, but Hawkeye is a bit of a puzzle as the character is reportedly on his own story arc in the film.
Cameras Roll On Captain Marvel
Production has officially begun on Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson. The film, which is based in the 90s is an interesting spin on this upcoming Marvel film as it is far removed from the timeline of the current MCU. There is also a throwback of sorts as Clark Gregg, Djimon Hounsou and Lee Pace has joined the film. The three actors have featured in past Marvel films playing characters Agent Coulson, Korath and Ronan The Accuser. There is a distinct possibility that they will be reprising their roles in Captain Marvel. Starring alongside them are Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn and Jude Law.
Pedro Pascal Joins Wonder Woman 2
Patty Jenkins’ sequel to Wonder Woman is beginning to come together rather nicely. Following the announcement that Kristen Wiig will play the Cheetah, the production has now signed on Pedro Pascal in an unspecified role. Pascal is slowly becoming one of today’s most in-demand actors, following his role in Narcos and breakout performance in Game of Thrones. He is also making a smooth transition to the big screen with roles in Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Pascal will also star in The Equalizer 2 alongside Denzel Washington.
Alex Kurtzman To Direct Star Trek: Discovery
Director Alex Kurtzman will direct the premiere episode of Star Trek: DiscoverySeason two. The director previously directed The Mummy with Tom Cruise, which was part of Universal’s Dark Universe. Now that that franchise is likely dead on arrival, Kurtzman could find the Star Trek series as something he can really sink his teeth into, especially since he co-wrote the Star Trek reboot and Into Darkness. The CBS series helped revitalise the Star Trek franchise on the small screen and it got fans genuinely excited for this new sci-fi series. The season one finale even had the USS Enterprise showing up, which could suggest an exciting crossover.
