Gareth Evans’ martial arts/actioner, The Raid enthralled audiences in 2011. Directed by Gareth Evans, the Indonesian actioner went on to be a sizable hit and a cult classic. It spawned a sequel in 2014 in The Raid: Berendal but it seems that Hollywood is now setting its sights on the film. An American reboot/version of the film is now being planned with Frank Grillo attached to star with Joe Carnahan tapped to direct. No word yet on when the project will officially begin production.
Team Thor Part 2
The Team Thor skit, which was released as part of a Blu-Ray extra for Captain America: Civil War was surprisingly funny and cool. Now Marvel has delivered a follow-up that reunites Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor character with his roommate Darryl. What ensues is a rather hilarious ‘light-hearted ‘spoof’ on the Thunder God. Best of all the first look at the skit, is just one part of the special features that will appear on the Doctor Strange Blu-Ray DVD. It could also suggest what sort of tone Thor: Ragnarok will take as well.
Jurassic World 2 Begins
The wheels are turning for the upcoming sequel to Jurassic World. According to recent posts on social media by director J.A. Bayona and producer Frank Marshall, it would seem that the film has already set-up shop in London. Production on the film should begin fairly soon as Universal sets its sights on a summer 2018 release and it will be interesting to see where Jurassic World 2, which is said to be part of a new trilogy, will take following the events of the first film. Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and B.D. Wong are reprising their roles and they will be joined by new cast members Rafe Spall, Toby Jones, Justice Smith and Daniella Pineda.
Mel Gibson For Suicide Squad
Warner Bros is apparently looking at Mel Gibson to direct the sequel to the Suicide Squad. The news is indeed surprising considering Hollywood has shunned and black list Gibson following his much-publicised meltdown some years ago. But fresh off a number of acting roles plus an Oscar-contending directorial effort in Hacksaw Ridge, it would seem that Gibson is now on a massive comeback trail. Having a director with the talents of Gibson should bode well for the Suicide Squad sequel as well as the DC cinematic universe.
Love Actually Cast To Reunite
Writer-director Richard Curtis and the cast of his beloved holiday film Love Actually are reuniting. But it won’t be a sequel to the film but rather for a comedy short filmed specifically for Red Nose Day. Red Nose Day Actually will air as part of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day Special May 25 on NBC and March 24’s Red Nose Day in the U.K. on BBC1. Revisiting their roles from the beloved movie are cast members Hugh Grant, Martine McCutcheon, Keira Knightley, Andrew Lincoln, Colin Firth, Lucia Moniz, Liam Neeson, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Olivia Olson, Bill Nighy, Marcus Brigstocke and Rowan Atkinson.
