Lock and load Punisher fans because Frank Castle is coming back for another round of action at Netflix. Following stellar reviews, the streaming service has officially announced that Marvel’s The Punisher Season 2 has been green lit. “Frank’s just getting started and he’s got more work to do,” said Netflix in a press release statement. The 13-episosde series has been widely praised as the best incarnation of The Punisher yet, with Jon Bernthal widely praised for his portrayal of Frank Castle.
Seth Rogen As Walter Cronkite
Actor Seth Rogen is looking to add to his repertoire of roles with a serious turn as Walter Cronkite in the drama, Newsflash. Rogen will reunite with Pineapple Express director, David Gordon for this true account drama that revolves around the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. The drama will focus on the story that unfolds following the assassination with both Cronkite and his producer Don Hewitt attempting to sieve through the chaos to bring viewers an accurate account of the tragedy.
Steven Caple Jr Takes Over Creed 2
Sylvester Stallone will hand over directorial duties to Steven Caple Jr for Creed 2. Caple will direct from a script by Stallone and Cheo Hodari Coker. According to the initial synopsis, Creed 2 will follow Adonis (Michael B Jordan) and his struggles with fame and his journey to become champion. The sequel will tie-in with the original Rocky franchise with Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) appearing in the film. Also returning are Tessa Thompson and Stallone who will reprise his role as Rocky Balboa. Production on Creed 2 is expected to start in March 2018.
Ocean’s 8 Poster
Warner Bros has released the first promotional poster for Ocean’s 8 and it does look mighty attractive. The spin-off to the highly successful Ocean’s Trilogy will be fronted by an all-female cast, with Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett and Ann Hathaway leading the charge. Bullock stars as Debbie Ocean, the sister of Danny Ocean, who was played by George Clooney in the Steven Soderbergh trilogy. Ocean’s 8 will also star Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, and Richard Armitage and is due to arrive in cinemas in June 2018.
48 Hours Set For Remake
Another 80s classic film is heading for the remake block with 48 Hours now announced for an update at Paramount. The original comedy, which starred Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy was a big hit when it was released in the early 80s and it also spawned a sequel – Another 48 Hours –which reunited Nolte and Murphy. Paramount has tapped Good Time directors Josh Safdie and Benny Safdie to bring this remake to life. No word yet on who will star in the film or when it is targeted for a release.
