The Conjuring seems to be crafting a horror universe of its own with news that there will be a new spinoff from the film. According to recent reports, The Conjuring universe will expand further with The Crooked Man, which was first revealed in The Conjuring 2. Ever since the first film became a critical and box-office hit, the franchise has produced spinoffs such as Anabelle and The Nun, which will be released in 2018.
Luther Season 5
Fans of TV series, Luther will be happy to know that the hit series will be returning for a fifth season. Star Idris Elba will reprise his role as the titular character with showrunner Neil Cross back as well. The series told the story of a highly-talented London detective who investigated high-profile murders. Luther has been credited in giving Elba his big break in Hollywood. Season five of the series will be a four episode run, which will be a BBC Studios and BBC America production. Luther Season 5 is expected to air in late 2018.
Tomb Raider Wraps Filming
Director of the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot, Uthaug has announced that filming has wrapped on the production. The upcoming film will see The Wave director; helm the video game adaptation with Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander as the iconic video game character. No details have been revealed as yet with regards to the film’s plot but it is being said that the new film will be an updated spin following storylines that are closely related to the 2013 video game reboot and sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Michelle Monaghan Rejoins Mission: Impossible
It looks like Tom Cruise’s upcoming Mission: Impossible sequel will see a familiar face rejoin the cast. Michelle Monaghan who previously starred in the third instalment of the film, portraying Dr Julia Meade, who winds up marrying secret agent, Ethan Hunt. Although she was omitted from previous films, except for a minor cameo in Ghost Protocol, it seems Dr Julia will be back for Mission: Impossible 6. The news was announced by director Christopher McQuarrie on Instagram.
John Wick 3 To Close out Trilogy
Director Chad Stahelski recently revealed that John Wick Chapter 3 could end up closing out the story revolving around the titular hitman. John Wick has been an immense hit for Keanu Reeves with both films garnering impressive box-office numbers. In a recent interview, Stahelski revealed that the third film may wind up the storyline for the character but he did not discount a spinoff series revolving around characters from the John Wick films for the near future. Still, that could be some ways off as John Wick Chapter 3 is currently in development.
Danny Elfman To Compose For Justice League
It looks like there is a massive amount of switch ups at Warner Bros. for the upcoming Justice League film. With Joss Whedon stepping in to replace Zack Snyder there are also changes in the music department with Danny Elfman replacing Junkie XL for the film’s score. Junkie XL will instead move on to Tomb Raider to score for that film instead. Elfman’s arrival could spell a different tune for Justice League, which could be tweaked under the helm of Whedon.
