The classic film The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle is set for a remake with Robert Downey Jr in the lead. The classic which originally starred Rex Harrison as a physician who could talk to animals was remade in 1998 with Eddie Murphy. Both comedies were decent successes but with Downey Jr taking on the mantle of the doctor, the latest incarnation of Doctor Dolittle could lead on to a lucrative franchise of its own. However due to the actor’s busy schedule, production for the film could be some years off for now.
Spider-Man: Homecoming Posters
Sony has revealed two new Spider-Man: Homecoming posters to showcase the new direction of the Marvel superhero franchise. Based on the treatment alone, it would suggest the new retooled franchise has done away with the whole emo feel of the previous two films. Spider-Man: Homecoming opens in July 2017 and stars Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton and Donald Glover.
Twin Peaks Returns
After 25 years, Twin Peaks is returning to television screens. After a quarter of a century, Twin Peaks Season 3 will see the David Lynch series return with all their usual suspects. Series regulars, Kyle McLachlan, Sherilyn Fenn, Dana Ashbrook, Everett McGill, Wendy Robie, and David Duchovny are back with a story that picks up exactly 25 years after the series ended with season 2. No details have been revealed as yet but as the cult classic first demonstrated in the early 90s, this too could be a sure-fire ratings hit.
Extension To The Cloverfield Universe
Bad Robot has been known to spring surprises, which is why some fans are expecting their latest effort to tie into the Cloverfield universe. Overlord will focus on a team of American paratroopers who find themselves in the crosshairs of what appears to be more than just a regular military operation. Last year, 10 Cloverfield Lane hit cinemas under the radar only to reveal itself as a film based within the Clover-verse. Overlord could potentially spring that same surprise.
Terminator Genisys Is Done
The proposed new Terminator series brought upon by Terminator Genisys will now not be made according to reports. The critically panned film garnered over USD400 million worldwide but it wasn’t enough to warrant a follow up. The film, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke, was expected to have a sequel due out this year but those plans have apparently been ‘terminated’. However that doesn’t mean that the Terminator franchise is done for as James Cameron is expected to return to produce a new series sometime in 2019.
