The Weekly Wrap: New John Wick 3 Image
The next chapter of John Wick will arrive in cinemas in May 2019 and Lionsgate is warming up fans for the release with a new image. The latest photo release sees Wick (Keanu Reeves) and Sofia (Halle Berry) with a pair of dogs in the desert. Berry plays a woman who has a past with the titular assassin, and will likely be Wick’s only aid in the film. John Wick 3 sees the assassin on the run following the events of previous film. Joining Reeves and Berry are Mark Dacascos, Asia Kate Dillon, Ian McShane, Lawrence Fishburne, Jason Mantzoukas, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Lance Reddick.
Netflix Renews Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Christmas came early for fans of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Netflix has renewed its well-received series for part 3 and part 4. The darker version of the character has struck a chord with audiences, with a successful debut season along with a Midwinter’s Tale holiday special. Netflix will also release the second part of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina in April 2019.
Battlestar Galactica Movie Gets a Writer
Universal Pictures’ upcoming big screen adaptation of Battlestar Galactica has gotten a huge jump with the appointment of writer Jay Basu to pen the screenplay. The writer who boasts Labyrinth 2 and The Girl in the Spider’s Web will rework the previously screenplay penned by Lisa Joy. A big screen adaptation of the classic sci-fi series should find an audience factoring the source material. Battlestar Galactica was initially a cult classic 80s series before it was refreshed in 2003 by SyFy as a ground-breaking sci-fi series that ran until 2009.
Annabelle 3 Wraps Production
The next chapter of The Conjuring universe has officially wrapped filming. Annabelle 3, which continues the horror based around cinema’s most unsettling doll, will arrive in cinemas in summer 2019 to scare moviegoers once more. The new chapter of the film is directed by first time director, Gary Dauberman. However he brings a wealth of experience with him especially in the horror genre, having penned the screenplay for the previous two Annabelle films along with The Nun and IT as well.
Streaming Revenue Set To Surpass Box Office
The way we consume content is changing and a latest report claims that streaming may well surpass the box-office in terms of revenue as soon as next year. The growing impact of serving services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime will reportedly rake in USD46 billion in 2019 with the global box-office topping out at USD40 billion. The popularity of streaming services will continue for some time to come especially with the eventual launch of Disney+ next year. Netflix currently leads the way in subscribers with a total of 140 million subscribers globally.
Hobbs and Shaw New Image
The latest edition of EW has another exclusive look at Hobbs and Shaw, the Fast & Furious spinoff featuring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. It looks like its full steam ahead in this action vehicle as its leaves the main franchise trailing far behind in terms of production. Johnson and Statham front the new actioner, which sees the characters of Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw teaming up for the greater good. The latest photo release sees the two characters in a showdown. Hobbs and Shaw throttles its way into cinemas in August 2019.
