We’ll get to see Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne face off against each other once again on the silver screen. But it won’t be a Matrix sequel but the next instalment of John Wick. The follow-up to the gritty actioner will see Reeves’ hitman character come face-to-face with a leader of the underworld named ‘the Bowery King’. We’ll see what develops between the two characters when John Wick: Chapter 2 hits cinemas in February 2017.
First Look: Captain Underpants
Beloved children’s book hero Captain Underpants will be fronting his own animated movie in 2017 courtesy of DreamWorks. Ed Helms will be voicing the titular character, who is a discipline teacher turned somewhat hero after being hypnotised by his students. The film will see how Captain Underpants come to his own as a hero and ultimately having to face off with one of his main arch nemesis, Professor Poopypants. The animated adventure is due to hit cinemas in April 2017.
Stephen King’s IT Returns
Horror fans are widely anticipating the return of Stephen King’s IT and despite not having a trailer yet, we’ve been getting several looks at the character. The latest photo release sees the menacing-looking clown appearing out of a sewer pipe. Taking on the mantle of Pennywise the clown is Bill Skarsgard, who plays the evil entity who lurks in the sewers underneath the town of Derry, Maine. Stephen King’s IT is due to open in cinemas in September 2017.
The Truth Behind Mr Hyde
The Mummy reboot will see Universal attempt to kick-start a monster franchise. And in addition to the titular character being featured which will see Sofia Boutella take on the mantle of an ancient Egyptian mummy queen, the film will also see the arrival of Dr Jekyll, which will be played by Russell Crowe. According to director, Alex Kurtzman, the film will be an origins story on two fronts and it could possibly hint to the story arc of Dr Henry Jekyll becomes Mr Hyde. The Mummy comes to cinemas in June 2017.
No Deadpool Cameo In Logan
The upcoming Wolverine sequel, which will be the last romp for Hugh Jackman as the X-Man will not have a Deadpool cameo. Both Ryan Reynolds and director James Mangold refuted the rumour on twitter citing that there has been no such cameo filmed or planned. The chances for a Deadpool appearance is slim considering the tone both productions have taken. With Logan being more gritty and sombre, having a character like Wade Wilson will be out of place. Logan is set for release in March 2017.
