Believe it or not another classic 80s TV show has been retooled and refreshed for a new audience. CBS has just announced that it will debut the Magnum P.I. pilot starring Jay Hernandez as Thomas Magnum. Much like the classic series starring Tom Selleck, the new Magnum is a former Navy man who returns to Hawaii and plies his trade as a private investigator. Mainstay characters TC and Rick are also back along with Higgins, who has been given a gender swap, for this new show. Fast & Furious director Justin Lin directed the pilot and also serves as its executive producer.
Netflix To Develop Horror Anthology Series With Del Toro
Director Guillermo del Toro and Netflix have managed a successful partnership with animated series Trollhunters. And now they’re looking to continue their collaboration with a new horror anthology series, which will air exclusively on the streaming service. The series titled, Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight, will have a collection of stories personally curated by the Academy Award winning director. Del Toro will not only executive produce the show but also direct episodes from time to time.
She-Ra Returns
He-Man may be in developmental hell but his cousin She-Ra is set to receive a huge animated return at Netflix. The streaming service has collaborated with DreamWorks Animation Television to produce She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, which will be released globally sometime this year. The new animated series features the voices talents of Karen Fukuhara, Lorraint Toussaint and Aimme Carrero who voices the titular character. The series follows Adora, an orphan, who ditches her life in the evil Horde after she discovers a magic sword that gives her superpowers.
Batwoman To Appear In Arrowverse
The CW is ramping interest in its DC properties on the small screen once again with its popular Arrowverse crossover. This time around it appears The CW will further extend the DC universe with their respective properties by introducing Batwoman. This news is indeed exciting for fans of Batman as it will introduce Gotham City to The CW. Superman is currently featured in Supergirl so one wonders if Bruce Wayne/Batman and the rest of the Gotham universe will eventually make their way to one of The CW shows.
The Return Of The ThunderCats
Cartoon Network will revamp the classic hit cartoon series, ThunderCats for a new (younger) audience. ThunderCats Roar will see a different and fun approach on the beloved series, which will debut on Cartoon Network some time in 2019. Staying true to the premise of the original series, Lion-O and the ThunderCats — Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, Wilykat, and Wilykit — barely escape the sudden destruction of their home world, Thundera, only to crash land on the mysterious and exotic planet of Third Earth. Lion-O, the newly appointed Lord of the ThunderCats, attempts to lead the team as they make this planet their new home.
