More trouble is on the horizon for Warner Bros and the DCEU. The latest development claims that Joss Whedon has exited the Batgirl project. According to the official statement, Whedon claims that he did not have a proper story to see the film through. The fate of the Batgirl film as well as Whedon’s involvement with Warner Bros and their DC properties remain questionable. Whedon co-directed Justice League, which was critically-panned and failed to make an impact at the box-office.
Jurassic World 3 Confirmed
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hasn’t arrived in cinemas yet but Universal Pictures is ready to film a third instalment. Jurassic World 3 is currently in development and will bring the story arc that began with Jurassic World to an end. Colin Trevorrow who directed the first film will once again co-write and executive produce the new film. Universal has also pencilled in a date for the film’s release, which is 11 June, 2021. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom arrives in cinemas 7 June, 2018.
Disney To Reboot The Muppets
The house of Mickey Mouse will reboot one of its prized properties in time for its streaming service. The Muppets will apparently be one of the key properties for Disney’s new streaming service, which will take off in 2019. If it all goes according to plan, the yet unnamed streaming service will see the Muppets join other Disney properties including Monsters, Inc, the High School Musical reboot, the Mighty Ducks and the live-action Star Wars television series.
First Look: The Hustle
Rebel Wilson and Anne Hathaway will star in the remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, which will arrive this summer. The film, now titled, The Hustle will see Wilson and Hathaway star as a pair of con artists who swindle men out of their money. Michael Caine and Steve Martin starred in the original film, which was released in 1988. The Hustle is due to premiere in cinemas in mid-June 2018. Wilson shared the first look from the film in a Twitter post.
Mondo To Release Batman: The Animated Series Figure
Mondo will release a super cool new Batman figure based on the beloved animated series of the late 80s. The Batman: Animated Series figure stands at 1/6 scale and stays true to the television classic – sculpted to match the iconic style of the show with a paint scheme evoking the bold, graphic look of an animated cel. The figure features approximately 30 points of articulation: multiple switch-out hands, heads, accessories, and a Bat Symbol figure stand.
Jared Leto is The Outsider
Netflix has another new original film out, this time starring Jared Leto. Set in post-WWII Japan, an imprisoned American soldier (Leto) is released with the help of his Yakuza cellmate. Now free, he sets out to earn their respect and repay his debt while navigating the dangerous criminal underworld. The Outsider, which premieres 9 March 2018 also stars Tadanobu Asano, Kippei Shiina, Shioli Kutsuna, Emile Hirsch, Raymond Nicholson, Rory Cochrane, Nao Omori, and Min Tanaka.
