Late night talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel is heading to the Oscars. The host and funny man has been confirmed as the host of the 89th Academy Awards. Kimmel will be following the footsteps of Ellen DeGeneres, Chris Rock and Neil Patrick Harris but he should do well as he already has experience hosting the Emmy Awards. The 89th Academy Awards will take place on 26 February at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
Ocean’s 8 Gets A Villain
The Ocean’s 11 spinoff, which will feature an all-female team, has landed a villain. Homeland lead actor, Damian Lewis has signed on to play the lead antagonist in Ocean’s 8. And according to reports he will portray the ex-lover of Sandra Bullock’s character in the film and supposed target of an elaborate heist orchestrated by the group. Ocean’s 8 also stars Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, and Helena Bonham Carter. The film is scheduled for release in June 2018.
Luke Cage Season 2
Good news for fans of Marvel series Luke Cage, because Netflix has renewed the series for a second season. The news is undoubtedly good news as the streaming channel is shaping a pretty healthy and interesting TV universe for its characters. Cage will be one of the central figures in the upcoming Defenders series and the character also has ties to Iron Fist, which will air soon. So Luke Cage getting a renewal will certainly be interesting as it will allow Netflix to further develop the character for the foreseeable future.
How To Train Your Dragon 3 Delayed
It looks like Hiccup is facing a little hiccup as Universal has pushed How To Train Your Dragon 3 again. The third instalment to the franchise was initially planned to be released in 2017 but it has been pushed back to 2018. But now it seems that 2019 is when audiences will see this one in cinemas. The new film will see Hiccup coming of age and Toothless finding a new mate. However as a new threat appears both dragon and rider have to band together again to save the day.
The New Tomb Raider Villain
The new Tomb Raider reboot will see Oscar winner, Alicia Vikander portray the video game vixen. Although there’s no official synopsis except that it will focus on a younger Lara Croft who is still finding her way as an archaeologist, the film has nevertheless found a villain. Walter Goggins, who is no stranger to playing the bad guy owing to roles in Predators and Justified will be the lead antagonist in the film. Tomb Raider is due to arrive in cinemas in March 2018.
