The Weekly Wrap: Javicia Leslie Is The New Batwoman

Javicia Leslie will be donning the cape and cowl vacated by Ruby Rose as The CW’s new Batwoman. The actress who recently starred in God Friended Me, will front the new season of the superhero series playing Ryan Wilder who has stepped in to replace Kate Kane. The character is described as likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed. She’s also nothing like Kate Kane, the woman who wore the Batsuit before her. With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. She is also the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined.

    Jude Law Is Captain Hook
Disney is once again pulling the trigger on another live-action Peter Pan film, which will be directed by David Lowery (Pete’s Dragon).  No details of the film have been revealed as yet but chances are high that it will be based on Disney’s 1956 animated classic. The big news is that big baddie; Captain Hook will be played by Jude Law. There have been several live-action adaptations of Peter Pan over the years, many of which weren’t that well received. This includes 2003’s Hook by Steven Spielberg, 2003’s Peter Pan by P.J. Hogan and 2015’s Pan, directed by Joe Wright with Hugh Jackman as Captain Hook.

    First Look: French Exit
Sony Pictures has released the first look at the dark comedy, French Exit starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Lucas Hedges. Directed by Azazel Jacobs, the film follows a Manhattan socialite and her emotionally-stunted adult son as they abscond to Paris following the scandalous death of her husband. Based on the novel of the same name, French Exit is scheduled for a release sometime this year. Joining Pfeiffer and Hedges is Tracy Letts, who lends his voice to the duo’s pet cat, Small Frank.

Netflix Cancels Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina
Sad news for fans of the Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina because Netflix has decided to can the supernatural series. The streaming giant has announced that the series will conclude with season four, which will consist of eight episodes due to arrive later this year. Starring Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina, the series made its debut in 2018 on Netflix. The series is loosely based on the Archie Comics series, ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’, albeit with a much darker tone.

    First Look: An American Pickle
HBO Max has given fans a first look at Seth Rogen’s new comedy,An American Pickle in which he will play two roles. The film centres on an immigrant in 1920s New York who falls into a vat of pickles only to emerge a century later. Rogen portrays Herschel Greenbaum a struggling immigrant who inadvertently gets brined after falling into a vat of pickles. The actor pulls double duty as Ben Greenbaum, Herschel’s only surviving relative, a mild-mannered computer decoder. An American Pickle is directed by Brandon Trost.
