We’ve finally gotten a first look at Jack Reacher 2 starring Tom Cruise. Jack Reacher: Never Go Back sees the action star reprising his role in the Lee Child’s book adaptation. Joining Cruise on this new adventure is Cobie Smulders, Aldis Hodge, and Holt McCallany. The film will be directed by Edward Zwick. No synopsis has been revealed as yet but judging by how good the first Jack Reacher was, we can safely say that there could be another franchise on Cruise’s hands at the moment.
T.J. Miller Joins Ready Player One
The upcoming Steven Spielberg adaptation of Ready Player One has signed on T.J. Miller. The comedic actor will reportedly portray an online troll named i-R0k in the film, which is based on the popular novel by Ernest Cline. Joining Miller in Ready Player One are Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Mark Rylance and Simon Pegg. The film will reportedly go into production in late June 2016 in order to make is release date of March 2018.
Elizabeth Banks Not Directing Pitch Perfect 3
The acapella comedy franchise Pitch Perfect will be losing Elizabeth Banks as director for the upcoming instalment. The actress/director has officially dropped out of directing the sequel due likely to a packed schedule. Jason Moore who helmed the first film is expected to return to helm Pitch Perfect 3. But Banks will still cameo in the film, returning to reprise her role as Gail Abernathy-McKadden.
John Boyega Joins Pacific Rim 2
The Force Awakens star, John Boyega is making great strides in Hollywood and it looks as if he’s already got a second franchise to participate in. In addition to lending his talents as Finn in the Star Wars universe, Boyega has also officially joined Pacific Rim 2. The actor will reportedly portray the son of Stacker Pentecost, who was played by Idris Elba in the first film. The sequel is expected to start production later this year.
Mandrake The Magician
Beloved comic strip, Mandrake the Magician is going to be made into a movie, which will be directed by Ethan Cohen. The film will be based on the titular character who is an illusionist and hypnotist and Warner Bros. has already tapped Sacha Baron Cohen to star as the magician. According to reports, the film will be a modern interpretation as opposed to the 1950s setting the comic strip was based on.
