Bad news for Hellboy fans because the third instalment to the franchise will not happen. Director Guillermo del Toro has taken to Twitter to announce that Hellboy 3 is definitely not happening. “Hellboy 3 Sorry to report: Spoke w all parties. Must report that 100% the sequel will not happen. And that is to be the final thing about it” was the official tweet the director sent out. The news is indeed a bummer as fans were waiting to see the follow-up to 2008’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army.
Van Helsing Heads For A Reboot
Universal Pictures is preparing for its monster franchise in a big way with numerous projects. One of which is a reboot of Van Helsing. The monster hunter film will now be based in the modern era and will form an integral part of the upcoming franchise being planned at Universal. According to reports, the studio has tapped Dan Mazeau (Wrath of the Titans) to rewrite the script for the film. Hugh Jackman previously starred as the character in the 2004 film, which was received modest success.
First Look: Tales From The Crypt 2017
M. Night Shyamalan’s renaissance continues with the reboot treatment of Tales From The Crypt. Curated by Shyamalan himself, the new 10-episode anthology series will feature short form horror stories with working titles such as Time of Death and Creatures. The former will be planned as an anthology of season-long horror tales that unfold in real time whilst Creatures stands as a sophisticated psychological thriller that tells the disturbing tale of two former best friends who, at 12 years old, tried to cut out their classmate’s heart as a sacrifice to an internet bogeyman.
Jamie Chung Joins X-Men TV Series
Bryan Singer’s upcoming X-Men TV pilot has landed its first star in Jamie Chung. The actress will be portraying the mutant Blink in the series. The teleporting mutant was recently played by Chinese actress Fan Bingbing in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. According to the official synopsis, The 20th Century Fox TV and Marvel Television series will focus on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.
The Batman Finds Its Director
Although faced with issues following Ben Affleck’s departure from the director’s chair; Warner Bros’ The Batman has nevertheless found the man to helm the project. Matt Reeves who previously directed Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will now direct the standalone Batman film. It will be interesting to see what Reeves’ vision is for the character, which is considered a crown jewel in the DC Cinematic Universe. Ben Affleck is confirmed to reprise his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne in the film.
