Fans of the classic hit musical, Grease, will be glad to know that there is a prequel in the works. The film, Summer Loving, will be helmed by Brett Haley (Hearts Beat Loud) and is reportedly inspired by the Grease song, ‘Summer Nights’, which saw Danny Zuko (John Travolta) and Sandy Olsson (Olivia Newton John) telling their friends of their summer fling prior to the movie. One wonders if this updated prequel will do justice to the classic musical. Released in 1978, it instantly made Travolta and John into international movie stars. It spawned a sequel starring Michelle Pfeiffer in 1982, which didn’t fare as well with audiences.

    Tenet Is Officially Delayed
To the surprise of no one, Warner Bros has pulled Christopher Nolan’s Tenet from its intended release date this August. According to the studio, the film will now be postponed indefinitely with no release date penned in at the moment. However, Warner Bros has assured fans that Tenet will open in cinemas in 2020 with a release date to be announced imminently. The highly-anticipated film from Nolan was originally due to premiere in mid-July before it was pushed to mid-August. This latest development will likely see the film pushed late into the year or even possibly in 2021 due to lucrative box office dollars at stake.

Julia Roberts & Denzel Washington Reunite For Netflix
After sharing the screen in 1993’s The Pelican Brief, both Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington will now reunite for the Netflix film, Leave the World Behind. Directed by Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot), the film is based on the upcoming novel by Rumaan Alam. The plot of the novel centres on a couple who set out for a quiet week in a rented home in Long Island. However, late at night, the owners of the house show up in a state of panic, with news that a blackout has rendered all broadcast services inoperable.

Gael García Bernal To Lead M. Night Shymalan’s New Film
M.Night Shyamalan has found his new lead for a new film, which will be produced by Universal Pictures. Gael García Bernal will headline the new film, which is currently shrouded in mystery, alongside supporting cast members, Ken Leung, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and Abbey Lee. The genre-driven director previously announced on Twitter in May that the film is currently in pre-production. Although plot details have not been revealed as yet, Universal has nevertheless pencilled in a late July 2021 release for M. Night’s latest flick.

Ryan Reynolds & Samuel L. Jackson Reunite For Futha Mucka
After sharing the limelight in The Hitman’s Bodyguard, playing a pair of assassins no less, Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson will team up again for the animated series, Futha Mucka, which will air on Quibi. The duo will voice fictional versions of themselves in the new short form animated series, created by Jim and Brian Kehoe who recently penned the comedy, Blockers. Both Reynolds and Jackson will team up again for The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, the sequel to their 2017 action comedy, which is due for release in 2021.
