Fans of the classic hit musical, Grease, will be glad to know that there is a prequel in the works. The film, Summer Loving, will be helmed by Brett Haley (Hearts Beat Loud) and is reportedly inspired by the Grease song, ‘Summer Nights’, which saw Danny Zuko (John Travolta) and Sandy Olsson (Olivia Newton John) telling their friends of their summer fling prior to the movie. One wonders if this updated prequel will do justice to the classic musical. Released in 1978, it instantly made Travolta and John into international movie stars. It spawned a sequel starring Michelle Pfeiffer in 1982, which didn’t fare as well with audiences.
