Deadpool 2 Poster
The marketing wheels continue to turn for Deadpool 2, this time around with a new poster reveal by Ryan Reynolds. The actor took to social media to unveil the new poster, which mocks the classic Flashdance movie poster from the 80s. The poster sees the merc-with-a-mouth sitting provocatively as a rain of bullets is poured over his body. Deadpool 2 hits cinemas in May 2018 and will see Reynolds star alongside Josh Brolin and Zazie Beets who will portray Cable and Domino respectively.
Star Wars Live Action TV Series
Disney is banking big on its Star Wars property. Following news that there will be a new Star Wars trilogy in the works with Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, Disney is also looking to develop several live-action Star Wars series for its upcoming streaming service. With so many Star Wars properties being developed, there’s a risk of Disney exhausting the franchise, despite having the need for original content for its streaming service, due to launch in 2019, which will go head to head with Netflix.
Conan The Barbarian TV Series
Fans hoping to see Arnold Schwarzenegger having one last run as Conan Barbarian will be in for a big disappointment. It’s being reported that Conan the Barbarian is now being developed into a TV series for Amazon with Colony co-creator, Ryan Condal. The new series will apparently stay true to Robert E. Howard‘s original iteration of the Cimmerian warrior. With both Conan and Game of Thrones being developed for Amazon, it’s likely that the streaming channel is looking to become the ‘go-to’ place for the sword and sorcery genre in the future.
Cloverfield 4
Netflix pulled a huge coup during the Super Bowl with the unveiling of The Cloverfield Paradox, the third instalment to the Cloverfield franchise. It’s been revealed that Netflix purchased the film outright from Paramount for USD50 million, and basically released it for free on its streaming service. Despite not scoring favourably with critics, there will be fourth instalment to the Cloverfield series with Overlord due out later this year. This time around the film will be released in cinemas and will depict a World War 2 scenario with Allied soldiers facing off against supernatural forces.
