Despite some epic misfires, Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions are still at it trying to deliver a proper Terminator film. As such it is probably good to hear that they’re now embarking on a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The untitled film, which fans have called Terminator 6 will see a new chapter in the franchise with Mackenzie Davis, Natalie Reyes and Gabriel Luna star in the film. It will also have Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger return in some capacity as Sarah Connor and the T-800 respectively. The studios recently released an official image showcasing the women of the film.
Netflix Acquires Mowgli
Andy Serkis’ Jungle Book adaptation won’t be getting a big screen release because Netflix has just secured the worldwide rights to the film from Warner Bros. A darker and grittier tale, Serkis’ version, titled Mowgli will now debut on the streaming service instead. The project has been in delayed numerous times and despite the fact it boasts an all-star cast with the likes of Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Benedict Cumberbatch, Mowgli was tipped by many to underperform compared to Disney’s lighter and more fun, Jungle Book live-action tale. Netflix hasn’t provided a release date as yet for the film.
24 Series In The Works
FOX is looking to revive one of its most popular television franchises in 24. According to a recent report, the series will be a prequel based on Jack Bauer, the character popularised by franchise star, Kiefer Sutherland. Although the actor won’t be back for the series, original series creators, Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran will be, so perhaps there is hope for 24 to gain back its popularity. FOX previously tried to reboot the series with 24: Legacy, but unfortunately the series did not strike a chord with viewers.
Dark Phoenix Release Date
A recent IMAX preview report listed the release date of the next instalment of the X-Men franchise. It is been reported that Dark Phoenix will hit cinemas in February 2019 with New Mutants set for August 2019. Both films were unceremoniously bumped from their release slate this year following calls for reshoots. Reports claim that FOX was unhappy with both Dark Phoenix and New Mutants, which is why the films were set back for retooling. Deadpool 2 remains the only X-Men property that stuck to its 2018 release date.
Super Pets Movie In The Works
The DCEU may be in tatters at the moment, but Warner Bros is still keen on expanding the superhero universe on screen. The studio recently announced that it will produce an animated movie about DC superhero pets, titled Super Pets. Animals have always had a place in the DC, evident by characters like Krypto the Super-Dog, although we’re not sure if Bat-mite quantifies to be in the same category. Regardless, Super Pets is apparently a project now at Warner Bros.
