Dolittle
Set For USD100 Million Loss
Robert Downey Jr’s fantasy adventure, Dolittle
is set to be 2020’s first big bomb. The film, which sees the actor portray
a doctor who has the ability to talk to animals, has thus far failed to find an
audience thanks to less than stellar reviews from both critics and viewers.
Globally, the film made USD56.8 million on its opening weekend, which isn’t too
shabby. However, once factoring in the film’s USD175 budget, minus marketing
cost, then it would seem that Dolittle
is heading towards an estimated USD100 million loss, which is a bitter pill to
swallow for Universal Pictures.

Witcher
Animated Movie
Netflix is giving fans more of the Witcher,
in the form of a new animated film. The
Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, is currently in the works at the streaming
service and will expand the storylines seen in the hit series. The Witcher
starring Henry Cavill made its debut on Netflix in December and immediately
generated a healthy amount of buzz. The series based on the fantasy novels by
Andrzej Sapkowski has already been green lit for a second season, which will
arrive on the streaming service in 2021.

Guillermo
del Toro’s Nightmare Alley Begins Production
Academy Award Winner, Guillermo del Toro has set his sights on his latest
project, Nightmare Alley, which is
adaption of a crime novel. Bradley Cooper is leading the new film, starring
alongside Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara and Toni Collette. The film centres on a
corrupt con-man who teams with a psychiatrist to trick people into giving them
money. Nightmare Alley is described
as a noir drama, which is somewhat removed from del Toro’s usual fantasy-driven
stories he is more accustomed with.

Cameras
Roll For Netflix’s Red Notice
Dwayne Johnson is hard at work on his first-ever
Netflix original film, which is described as a globe-trotting heist actioner.
By all accounts, Red Notice sounds
pretty suited to Johnson’s body of work but the action star will also be in
good company with both Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot along for the ride. Based
around an original idea, Red Notice
is being made with a blockbuster sized budget, which reportedly comes in at
USD130 million. The news of the production was shared by Johnson on Instagram.
Red Notice is set for a premiere on Netflix in 2021.
