Another reboot is on the horizon and this time it’s a spin on the classic horror story, The Exorcist. FOX has reportedly inked a pilot order for the series, which will tackle demonic possession in the modern era. The series will follow two individuals who investigate a family’s brush with an evil spirit, which puts them in the crosshairs of facing true evil. The Exorcist is considered by many as the scariest films ever made, so it will be interesting to see how FOX brings that element in to this attempt at a TV series.
First Look: High Rise
Ben Wheatley’s dark comedy, High Rise has been making its way around various film festivals and it’s gotten some positive reviews. The 70s-era film sees Tom Hiddleston portray a tenant in a building, which he discovers is segregated into classes based on wealth and status, with its reclusive architect (Jeremy Irons) inhabiting the top floor. Starring alongside Hiddleston is Luke Evans. The film is slated for a wide release in April this year. But considering the subject matter and genre, let’s not expect this one to open in local cinemas.
Darkseid In Batman v Superman?
Speculation is rampant that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will reveal iconic DC villain, Darkseid. This came to light following an image that ran in Empire Magazine which showed the Dark Knight overlooking a landscape rife with destruction. At first glances, the photo seems to be a dream sequence of sorts but in the foreground there is foretelling sign of the Omega symbol, which is one of the references for Darkseid. Could this be a cool Easter egg or has Warner Bros. kept something cool in its back pocket for the film?
Joseph Fiennes Is Michael Jackson
Arguably the strangest casting call to be announced in recent memory is Joseph Fiennes involvement in an upcoming road trip comedy. That’s because he’ll be playing the late great pop star, Michael Jackson in the film. The 9/11 road trip comedy will see Fiennes play the pop star who goes on a road trip with Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando following the events of September 11. Fiennes will be joined by Stockard Channing as Liz Taylor and Brian Cox as Brando. The film is slated to open in 2017.
Legends of Tomorrow Gets Stephen Amell
With limited cross over potential, the producers of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow are already teasing a number of characters appearing on the ensemble superhero series. Now it’s been revealed that Arrow star Stephen Amell will be featuring in episode 6 of the series starring as the older version of Oliver Queen. The show will also feature Connor Hawke, which is presumably Queen’s son but even more fascinating is the fact that the Arrow will borrow a look seen in the Dark Knight Returns comic book with a missing left arm and long goatee. In the comics, Arrow’s arm was lost in a battle with Superman, so it will be interesting to see how that may or may not factor in Legends of Tomorrow.
