It looks like Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Dolittle film has run to some problems. After being pushed back almost a year from its original release, it’s now being reported that the film is currently being retooled with additional reshoots. Doctor Dolittle is a remake of the 1967 film, which starred Rex Harrison and tells the story of a doctor who can speak to animals. Eddie Murphy delivered a remake of the film as well in the late 90s. Universal has a lot riding on this new film, which reportedly cost USD175 million to make. The film is now pegged for a January 2020 release.

    Michelle Yeoh Joins Avatar Sequels
The Avatar sequels will see Michelle Yeoh portraying a scientist. The veteran actress will play a character named Dr. Karina Mogue in the sequels. The announcement was made by James Cameron via Twitter. Avatar 2 is pencilled in for a mid-December 2020 release and will star Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver. New cast members include Kate Winslet, Edie Falco, Oona Chaplin and Vin Diesel. As for Yeoh, she will also be starring in her own Star Trek: Discovery spinoff, which will focus on her character, Captain Philippa Georgiou.

Birds of Prey Has Officially Wrapped
The DC/Warner Bros. production of Birds of Prey is officially in the can. The film, which will see an ensemble group of female superheroes taking on the villainous Black Mask, is slated for a release in early February 2020. The film will be headlined by Margot Robbie, who is reprising her role of Harley Quinn. Joining her is Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Black Canary), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Huntress), Ella Jay Basco (Cassandra Cain) and Rosie Perez (Rnee Montoya). The main baddies in the film will be played by Chris Messina (Victor Zsasz) with Ewan McGregor taking on the mantle of the Black Mask.

Travis Knight Signs On For The Six Billion Dollar Man
The Warner Bros. adaptation of The Six Billion Dollar Man starring Mark Wahlberg has a new director in the fold. Fresh off the success of Bumblebee, Travis Knight will now helm the big screen adaptation of the hit 70s TV series. The story is centred on an astronaut who is given bionic implants after an accident. The original series starred Lee Majors and was based on the novel Cyborg by Martin Caidin. Knight will have a lot of work to do on this film as The Six Billion Dollar Man has been languishing in development for a number of years now.

    Showtime Casts Its Master Chief
The Halo series is picking up steam at Showtime with Pablo Schreiber joining the production as Master Chief. The live-action series, based on the hit Xbox video game, is set in the future with humanity facing off against an unstoppable alien force. The series will see newcomer, Yerin Ha portraying a character from the Outer Colonies who crosses paths with Master Chief during a fateful time.  Production of the series is set to begin sometime in quarter three of this year. Showtime is producing the series with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television.
