2019 is proving to be a bumper year for Disney with its impressive USD10 billion haul at the box-office. The house of mouse truly crushed it this year with six movies that broke the billion dollar barrier. This includes the impressive yields of Captain Marvel, Toy Story 4, Aladdin, The Lion King and Avengers: Endgame. With Frozen 2 still playing in cinemas and with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker still yet to open, it solidifies Disney as the undisputed king of the box-office.

Mindhunter
Star Joins Matrix 4
Jonathan Groff who portrays Agent Holden Ford on Netflix’s Mindhunter is joining the cast of The Matrix 4. The actor will join Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss
who are returning as Neo and Trinity. Also joining the cast is Yahya
Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick and Neil Patrick Harris. Lana Wachowski is
returning to direct the sequel for Warner Bros, which should begin production
early 2020. Not much is known about the new film, or how it ties into the
original trilogy.

The
Flash Movie Gets Release Date
After several false starts and production issues, The Flash standalone movie is finally moving forward (for now at
least). Ezra Miller is due to reprise his role as The Flash a.k.a. Barry Allen
in the movie directed by Andy Muschietti (IT).
Warner Bros has pencilled in a July 2022 premiere for the Scarlett Speedster’s
first solo outing. Although being in development hell, The Flash’s fortunes may
have turned recently due to the turnaround success of DC films such as Aquaman, Shazam! and Joker.

Grisswolds
Spinoff In The Works
A series spinoff on Christmas Vacation
is in the works at HBO Max. The streaming service will develop a TV show based
on the Vacation series of films that
starred Chevy Chase in the 80s and 90s. The new Grisswolds series will reportedly be a single-camera sitcom that
follows the family, who resides in the Chicago suburbs. Franchise actor Johnny
Galecki is executive producing the show for HBO Max. The Grisswolds will reportedly premiere sometime in 2020.

First
Look: Locke & Key
Netflix has provided the first look at the upcoming comic series adaption of Locke & Key. The show follows three siblings
as they move with their disabled mother into their father’s ancestral home
after he is brutally murdered. They soon discover that they house is littered
with magic keys that can do everything from grant the user the ability to fly
to open doors to other universes. But every door that opens also reveals
something that tries to sneak into their world. Locke & Key is set to debut on Netflix in February 2020.
