Actor Benicio Del Toro let slip that he’s playing a villain in Star Wars: Episode VIII. Although no official word has surfaced as yet from the Disney camp, the actor commented on the role in a recent Spanish radio interview. “Star Wars is coming up, we will see how that turns out. I think we start shooting in March,” said the actor. “The thing is…. They don’t let me talk too much about it, I’m like the villain. But we’ll see.” Star Wars: Episode VIII is set to begin production in March 2016 with a targeted release date set for May 2017.
R.I.P. Wes Craven
Hollywood lost another one of its brightest stars this week as we waved farewell to master of horror, Wes Craven. The iconic director best known for classics such as A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, The Last House On The Left and The Hills Have Eyes succumbed to brain cancer at age 76. Craven redefined the horror genre and is considered one of the most influential horror directors in film history. His immense talent and scares will be missed.
Nicholas Hoult Is J.D. Salinger
X-Men star, Nicholas Hoult looks set to star as legendary author, JD Salinger. The biography will focus on the life of the author, who penned the classic Catcher In The Rye. According to reports, the film titled Rebel in the Rye, will chronicle the life of Salinger, tracing elements in his youth and his adult life, which led to him penning the classic novel, which he is best known for.
Vincent Cassel is a Bourne baddie
Universal Pictures’ Bourne 5 production has just signed on Vincent Cassel to portray the lead baddie. Speculation is rife that the French actor will portray a dangerous assassin who is hunting down Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne character. Although no official title has been given for the film, production of Bourne 5 is expected to begin later this summer with a story reportedly set in a post-Snowden world. The movie is slated for a July 2016 release.
Obama To Run Wild
Believe it or not but President Barack Obama is set to head into the wild with Bear Grylls. Scheduled for a special episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls, the President will trek through the Alaskan wilderness in order to get a crash course in survival tactics and also witness first-hand the effects of climate change in the area. President Obama is just the latest big name who will be featured in the series, which has attracted celebrities such as Channing Tatum, Zac Efron and Michelle Rodriguez in recent months.
