Legendary Entertainment has teamed up with Netflix to produce a Gundam live-action movie. Skull Island director, Jordan Vogt-Roberts has been tapped to bring the project to the streamer. According to reports, the film will be stream on the platform except for China, where it will premier in cinemas. The story will apparently be adapted from the beloved anime series and revolve around gigantic space battles featuring big robots. Netflix is banking big on anime projects for its platform but a live-action Gundam film is certainly a big bet as far as blockbusters go.

Lucy Liu Joins Shazam!: Fury Of The Gods

DC’s Shazam will have to tango with two villains in the upcoming sequel. Helen Mirren has already been cast as the villain Hespera. Now Lucy Liu will be joining her as sister Kalypso. Both villains are daughters of the titan Atlas, and they will battle with Zachary Levi’s Shazam. The DC film will continue to expand the mythology surrounding Shazam along with Black Adam, a one-time arch-enemy. That film, starring Dwayne Johnson will arrive in end July 2022 with Shazam!: Fury Of The Gods due in June 2023.

John Wick 4 Begins Production

Keanu Reeves is in Germany to film the next instalment to the John Wick saga. The fourth chapter of the action franchise has been in development since late 2019. However, due to the health crisis, the film has maintained a holding pattern. Now, though it seems that cameras will roll for John Wick 4, which continues the adventures of the titular hero after Parabellum. Reeves has kept busy in the past year wrapping up a Bill & Ted movie as well as The Matrix 4. John Wick 4 is scheduled for release in late May 2022.

Warrior Renewed For Season 3

The Cinemax martial arts series, Warrior is being renewed for season 3. The third season will be produced by HBO Max, signaling a platform shift. Although this may largely effect viewing in the U.S., Warrior Season 3 could air on Cinemax or HBO GO in other international markets. The series stars Andrew Koji and is based on the writings of Bruce Lee. The first two seasons of the series have garnered decent ratings for Cinemax. It will be interesting to see where Warrior goes for Season 3 under the HBO Max banner.

Mads Mikkelsen Joins Indiana Jones 5

Actor Mads Mikkelsen has just scored a role in Indiana Jones 5, in which he still star alongside Harrison Ford. The film, directed by James Mangold and produced by Steven Spielberg, will also star Phoebe Waller-Bridge. No plot details have been released yet but the film has been penciled for a late July 2022 premiere. The Danish actor has secured several roles in franchises in the past decade. He has lent his talents to Marvel, Star Wars and very recently, Harry Potter, where he replaces Johnny Depp as Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts series.
