The wait is over. Warner Bros. has just dropped The Matrix Resurrections trailer, which reveals the return of Neo, Trinity, and gang. Like the original film series, one can never expect what will unfold onscreen with this new sequel.
Judging by what plays out in The Matrix Resurrections trailer, it feels all too familiar. No details or synopsis have been revealed as yet. However, Keanu Reeves returns as Neo, the saviour of humankind, in this new adventure.
Also back are Carrie-Ann Moss as Trinity and Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe. Also back are Lambert Wilson as The Merovingian, and Daniel Bernhardt as Agent Johnson. However, some of the mainstay actors aren’t back.
For starters it looks like Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has taken over the Morpheus character. The dojo scene in the trailer alludes to that tease. Also starring in the film are Andrew Caldwell, Priyanka Chopra, Jonathan Groff, Jessica Henwick, Ellen Hollman, Eréndira Ibarra, Toby Onwumere, Christina Ricci, Max Riemelt, and Neil Patrick Harris.
The Matrix Resurrections trailer kicks off with Neo a.k.a. Thomas Anderson in what appears as a therapy session. It then slowly unveils a much larger hidden world. In addition to the fight scenes, it appears Neo has now newfound powers, which includes telekinesis.
Nevertheless despite being vague, in terms of storyline, the new film seems to be par for course as far as the franchise goes. Directed by Lana Wachowski, The Matrix Resurrections arrives in cinemas in late December. Check out the trailer below.
