Star Wars: The Last Jedi has proven that the franchise is in great shape as it just crossed the USD1 billion mark at the global box-office. Even more amazing is the latest Star Wars feat managed the feat in just three weeks.

Despite some negative feedback from fans, The Last Jedi is one of the handful of movies that managed to break the seven figure mark in 2017. Films that managed to do so include Beauty and the Beast and The Fate of the Furious. The latest Star Wars film is also the highest grossing film of 2017.

In the US alone, The Last Jedi has brought in over half a billion dollars, which is mightily impressive. It remains to be seen just where this Star Wars film will ultimately wind up once it reaches its run in cinemas. Either way, Disney should be chuffed because they’re now three for three in terms of Star Wars movies hitting the billion dollar barrier following their acquisition of Lucasfilm.

This year will see another Star Wars film arrive in cinemas in the form of the Han Solo spinoff. One wonders if that one will manage to join the USD1 billion dollar club too.
