Warner Bros has announced that Matt Reeves’ The Batman is now set for a June 2021 release. The new film will focus on a younger Dark Knight, which means Ben Affleck is out of the picture.
The actor himself sent out a Tweet wishing Warner Bros and Reeves the best for this new adventure.
Affleck, despite bringing a new take on Batman/Bruce Wayne, did not strike a chord with some hard core fans. But now the question remains, who will be the next actor to bring the Batman to life on the big screen?
Reeves’ is going back to basics with this new Batman tale, reportedly focusing on a noir-tinged story, with a younger, and likely-green, Dark Knight. The story will be more detective/crime skewed to what we’ve seen in the past, focusing more on Batman’s intellect rather than his fighting skills.
The Batman will reportedly boast the character’s famed Rogues Gallery, which will feature some of the Bat-universe’s most iconic villains such as Riddler, Penguin and Poison Ivy.
Judging by the success of Aquaman, The Batman will likely be a standalone adventure, one which has no direct connection to the DCEU.
