Good news for fans of the X-Files as both Fox Mulder and Dana Scully will be back for ten more episodes. FOX has officially ordered a follow-up to the successful X-Files revival series, which aired in 2016. The series will see creator Chris Carter executive producing the series with both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their roles as FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
The new X-Files series could air later this year or early 2018 as it’s expected to go into production soon. The revival series ended with an epic cliff hanger with a potential global wide genocide orchestrated by the Cigarette Smoking Man with the aid of Alien DNA.
The revival series drew over 16 million viewers and it ended the year as the second most watched drama of 2016. It will be interesting to see where Carter will steer the direction of the X-Files now following the drastic ending seen in the culmination of the most recent season.
