If you’re a fan of Constantine, then we have a bit of bad news for you. NBC has announced that it will cease to continue production on the DC/Vertigo adaptation, leaving the series in proverbial limbo after episode 13.
This comes as quite a shock as the show has garnered a decent following amongst fans, but it still hasn’t been a ratings hit NBC had hoped for. The final episode of the series aired in the U.S. this week and it seems that the only lifeline the show has is with the SyFy channel.
Fans are currently campaigning for the show to continue on social media, and if there’s enough interest, there’s still a chance that SyFy could pick-up the series and rebranded it as Hellblazer. The rebranding idea is being mooted to give the series a darker tone compared to that of the hit comic book.
Constantine was part of DC’s stable of offerings of 2014, released alongside Gotham and The Flash as well as the third season of Arrow. The latter series have garnered a decent following and have been renewed for subsequent seasons. So let’s see if the guys at SyFy step up to the plate to bring Constantine back from television purgatory.
