Supergirl Season 2 is expected to ramp things up in a big way with the proper introduction of Superman to the show. The first season, which aired on CBS, already teased the Man of Steel courtesy of a silhouette of the character, but the second season of the show is expected to showcase Superman in his full glory.
“The iconic character of Superman will first be seen visiting his cousin Kara in National City at the beginning of the series’ second season,” read the official release by Warner Bros. television. Supergirl, Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg also chimed in confirming the arrival of the hero –“Greg, Ali and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”
This news comes as a great boost for Supergirl Season 2, especially as it moves from CBS to The CW. The channel’s, DC TV universe is already shaping up rather nicely with a team of superheroes and villains from shows such as Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. With Supergirl joining the network, we do hope that this opens a gateway for bigger and more prominent heroes to join forces and crossover in each television series.
No casting announcement has been made for who will portray Superman in the series, but we hope his appearance will be a ratings boost for Supergirl Season 2. Now, let’s hope Warner Bros. TV executives will be open to letting Batman appear on Arrow or The Flash sometime in the near future.
