STGCC 2018, Singapore’s largest pop culture convention will be bustling with activity thanks to LEGO’s exclusive remarkable brick displays and assembling competition, GGXP’s intensive esports tournaments and guest appearances featuring creators from the world of comics, cartoons and anime.
It’s a pop culture party at STGCC, and here are some exciting happenings you can look forward to!
Activities at STGCC’s LEGO Zone:
Be immersed in the Harry Potter universe by visiting the Hogwarts campus constructed entirely from LEGO bricks
Get your hands on the whopping 6,000 LEGO bricks Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle which officially launches on 1st September, available in limited quantity at STGCC
Five interactive Voltron-themed lion figurines from Voltron: Defender of the Universe that transform into robotic lions will be unveiled
Voltron: Defender of the Universe episodes to be streamed on large screens for an immersive experience.
Hands-on Speed Building Challenge with LEGO bricks
Both hardcore and recreational gamers will be spoilt for choice as the Good Game Experience (GGXP) zone returns after its success last year:
World Electronic Sports Games (WESG) supported by Alisports (Alibaba Group’s sports branch) and local esports initiative Singapore’s Cybersports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) is working with SEA organiser Agri Mind to host its Singapore qualifier at GGXP this year.
Battle it out via games such as Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, Dota 2, Starcraft II and Vainglory.
Check out trading card sections with card titles such as Pokemon GO and Dragon Ball Super Card Game
Tabletop aficionados will find themselves spoilt for choice with Team Yankee, TANKS!, Warhammer and X-Wing: Miniatures.
Second line-up of guests have also been announced, with a mixture of old and new faces:
My Little Pony’s artist Agnes Garbowska (Canada), making a return. Known for her whimsical watercolour aesthetic, she is also behind one of three unique STGCC official programme guides’ comic variant cover designs!
Comic book writer and artist Frank Cho (US) known for his works for Shanna the She-Devil, Mighty Avengers and Hulk is back for his second year
Veteran voice actress Kana Ueda (JAP) who voiced prominent characters in popular anime series such as Rin Tohsaka (Fate Series) and Hayate Yagami (Nanoha Series) will be making her Southeast Asian debut.
