Star Trek Beyond is set to warp into cinemas this July and the production is already in fine tuning stage with reshoots being scheduled. But it seems that the film isn’t just tying up loose ends but also adding a new dimension to the storyline with the introduction of a new character.
The film has added actress Shohreh Aghdashloo to its cast and the reshoots revolve around her role as the High Command of the Federation. The addition of Aghdashloo could mean that the reshoots are bigger than fans expect. The third instalment to the Star Trek reboot series will see Justin Lin take over the reins from J.J Abrams. But the film will nevertheless see the crew of the USS Enterprise remain intact.
Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto,Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Anton Yelchin are returning and they’ll be joined by Sofia Boutella, Lydia Wilson and Idris Elba, who is taking on the mantel as the film’s main villain.
Despite the reshoots, Star Trek Beyond is still confirmed for a release at the end of July 2016.
